The Juliana Theory

Biography

The world was introduced to The Juliana Theory last year-and the response was immediate. "A breath of fresh air..." said CCM Magazine. The band's stirring, emotional approach to pop music made music fans and critics alike stand up and take notice. But The Juliana boys were just getting started. Now with a year of constant touring under their belts, the band is ready to deliver their second album "Emotion is Dead".

Why the title? "In modern music, I often question if there's an emotional heartbeat left, " says vocalist Brett Detar. "In the world as a whole, and in people's lives, emotion will never die...I can tell you that a lot of passion, pain, excitement, frustration and most everything else went into the making of "Emotion is Dead." That emotion can be felt throughout the album, from the quiet reflection of "Something Isn't Right Here" (a song about the death of a loved one) to the raw edge of "If I Told You This Was Killing Me, Would You Stop?" (an indignant reply to backbiters).

There's no doubt that The Juliana Theory does not want to be just another manufactured pop sensation. "We spent a lot longer writing material for this album," says Brett. "I guess we've just made a record that we can be a lot more pleased with this time around."

"With too many alternative Christian bands cranking out low budget projects, it's a breath of fresh air to encounter The Juliana Theory. Blanketed in intelligent modern rock and guitar-driven power pop, the band delivers thought provoking songs on challenges of life in the real world" -CCM Magazine
