Above Club

The last month and a half has seen We Are The City emerge from a self-imposed, total social media blackout, to reveal a grainy, 24/7 video stream showing the B.C. trio sequestered in an undisclosed location creating their third album, Above Club before their fan's eyes. There are obvious questions about We Are The City recording in a make-shift studio apartment, seemingly above a nightclub. The live stream, hosted from wearethecity.ca ended rather suddenly and dramatically last week, with an unknown person in the band's studio, messing with the band's gear and laptops.

The final outcome of this project, is wrapped up in the mystery of how it was created, Above Club is to be released on November 13 via Tooth & Nail (USA), Boompa (Canada) and Sinnbus (UK/Europe).

"Kiss Me Honey" is rooted in buzzing bass, crackling tonal guitars and booming drums, and it was the first track completed during the band's live 24/7 recording broadcast. The sarcastic lyrics; The improvised vocal take; And, the dusty, old synth used for the entire track turned on once, for the recording session - and it hasn't worked since.

We Are The City will depart on a month-long U.S. tour with Tooth & Nail veterans Copeland that kicks off this week on November 5 in Nashville and wraps December 6 in Orlando (with Copeland and Eisley). The band will then spend the start of 2016 playing across Europe with shows in Rome, Hamburg, London and Italy. A Canadian tour will soon be announced for early 2016.

We Are The City has already revealed some new music and visuals in Keep On Dancing. Released as a stand alone single last month, the track will also appear on Above Club.

We Are The City is the combined talent of long-time high school friends Cayne McKenzie (vocals/keyboards), Andrew Huculiak (drums), and David Menzel (guitar). They have made a habit of doing the unexpected, the unpredictable and taking the musical path most creatively traveled - and they don't show any sign of changing.
